Listed historical Walka Water Works near Maitland, Hunter Valley.  Old machinery is displayed.  Otherwise, the area is used for outdoor recreation. This was the site of the original water supply.

Knee deep in clover...good news...there has been a change of prime minister.
Now we have...thoroughly liberal government committed to freedom, the individual and the market.
That reality sounds very old hat.
However ...volatility in change is our friend...if we are agile and smart enough to take advantage of it.
 Sounds much more hopeful.
You win some you lose some.
The park had extensive work done on drainage, it is supposed, and perhaps the road will keep dry from now on.
However, part of the park land near the club has gone to a new car park.  Seen watering the turf when the traffic nearby is busiest.

Sunlight and water.  Difficult to focus on  Corruption Collusion Community Exclusion when our little world is looking so darn good.

A benign fragment from nature near The Washpool.  There's no crocodiles. Or forbidden plant species?

Sunday, June 08, 2014

Here is The Washpool, north of Scone in a national park. Take a walk there one time.
Imagine projects that would enrich our lives, just imagine worthwhile cultural, educational and recreational ambitions.  A spare half a billion dollars to spend in our area and all we hear about is rail and road stuff. Is that all there is? Have we lost all inspiration?

Massive sweet potato with purple 'flesh' from the new community garden growing near shopping centre Wallsend.  This variety claims more benefits for us than the other varieties with yellow or white interior. Flavour was good, colour....well...it's different.

Capricorian sunshine feels alright early in the day.  Townsville.
A big yell out for our government services and we are probably very fortunate. I can skite, like others before, that I've just had 5 hours and 9 mins of invasive surgery and a few days later am home again pottering around. So far so good!

Find the lone board rider off O'Connors Beach.
Far along the horizon no development is obvious. From here at Crescent Head, the Hat Head National Park stretches north into the blue yonder and O'Connors Beach would be on the far distant end.  Mid north coast of NSW.

Outside 414 Hunter Street, a protest against hunting with guns in national parks was outside the shop front of Mr Tim Owen, Liberal (read conservative) party member.  'Not happy Barry' is aimed at the state leader.  My vote, as a visitor of national parks, is for nothing less than sufficient park rangers to well manage the parks.  Petition ....nohunting.wildwalks.com/

Belatedly, blog topics of the past came to notice with a new bio of Rachel Carson heard on LNL and Theroux was in a Pittsburgh blanked in snow.

Council van with frogs, one of the larger than life animal themes now showing at work sites.
Too much light and sun but who's complaining about that. A new playground and more is underway in Islington park. Renewal is spreading around the city parks.
References take on new meaning.  Disaster....Boardwalk Empire (SBSTV)...'Under the boardwalk'.. super size...climate change...sea levels...snow.  Also note the Caribbean people and their difficulties.

Throsby Villages met for the third annual pow wow in Islington Park.  The long table could be compared to the length of an Olympic Pool.
So are the banks of Throsby Creek and Islington Park still shared with gays and prostitutes?  Everyone is welcome.

Wickham and Islington residents were celebrating today. Splendid weather and a cool southerly with a refreshing bite but free of storm clouds saw markets, Ukulele Fest, new playground, church goers, community garden and Throsby community partygoers meeting in the parks.
Sayonara...going cold turkey and leaving blogging soon.....

At the park  we were warned 'beware of swans protecting their territory'.  One swan left the water and threatened us with ruffled feathers, red beak and long neck to the fore.
I stood my ground and dominated the encounter with strong utterances. Trust?  Were those feathers wonderfully soft to the touch?
The feathers on baby swans change through shades of grey before turning black.  Adults swans pair for life.
Spinning nearby was pole dancing and an abstract bird. Vertigo is the downside or is it tied to an experience.

Here's a song of global aspirations.  All patriots: ease up, lighten up, please!

This is my song O God of all the nations
A song of peace for lands afar and mine
this is my home the country where my heart is
Here are my hopes my dreams my holy shrine
But other hearts in other lands are beating
with hope and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean
And sunlight beams on clover leaf and pine
But other lands have sunlight too, and clover
and skies are every where as blue as mine.
O hear my song O God of all the nations
A song of dreams for their land and for mine.
A Song of peace words by Lloyd Stone music by Sibelius.

On the banks of Hawkesbury River, south between Sydney and Newcastle.

Lately, rain has hung around, humidity is high, the grass is greener and a stark sunny break got a few tennis players back onto the court. A large picnic group, shady fig trees and lawn bowlers are just out of range.
Must be time to get a wide angle camera.

Regulatory photos from Civic park towards Laman Street.

Surely this is the architectural style that is enjoying a reappearance.  This type of entrance with the rectangular structure to the fore is seen everywhere.

Towards Laman Street post fig trees, today.  Seems ok without trees planted as an avenue  The division of Laman street from the park below, by a line of trees, may be undesirable, when the area could be continuous using wide, broad, cleared steppes sweeping up to Laman street.  Would that mean more use of perpendicular lines?
