Beaut day on the water or in the air to view a city spread out before you. Climate change and  fossil fuel is implicated when we read that July was the warmest July on record.  In photo a coal ship is leaving the port followed by what is believed to be a small dredge.  The dredge makes a lot of round trips each day.
Once free of the port the ships seem to go south towards us before they soon turn north to flee to the wider world with their dark cargo of fossil fuel. Farewell. Somewhere at that point a chopper retrieves the pilot.  The port has been leased to Chinese interests.  Hard to believe.

As if beached marine life. Female and male life savers lined up to sprint to their rubber duckie, jumped aboard to join the crew, full throttle out to a set-up off-shore where they enacted a rescue, I'm guessing, then raced back to the shore.  The photo does not convey the fast pace.

  Looming on the horizon are two of the coal ships that queue for coal from the Port of Newcastle, the fossil fuel city.
 The post-coal era will come but not soon enough. Progress. Westpac Bank announced it will not finance coal developments which is greeted both with applause and with outrage.
  Current tales in Newcastle are about upheavals in preparation for the super-car races of note,   meaning certain roads works have closed the roads and residential areas are very cross at finding themselves on a speed way. The east precinct is vintage style, where high rise or modernisation is probably banned - apart from super-car events!
  A new light rail to serve the long lean main street is about to start installation.  Apartments are spring up in the western precinct and change is accelerating in inner city Newcastle.      

The Greens and community survival

It was dangerous and it took bravery to go along to a meeting with the most disrespected disliked group in the community.  Of all things, The Greens seek to preserve the environment and our health and the Great Barrier Reef by means of more renewable energy production and by phasing out thermal coal mining.
 Senator, Dr Richard Di Natale, Leader of the Australian Greens, (at the rostrum), Senator Lee Rhiannon, MLC Jeremy Buckingham presented daring plans for more employment on coal mine remediation among other plans, during an ordered transition from coal.

 Coal is a major contributor to climate change.  As the largest coal export port, Newcastle succeeds in shipping destructive climate change to the globe.  Day and night.... day and night....

Direct Action
Persons have stopped some coal export from the port of Newcastle by chaining themselves to a conveyor.   According to news reports they face arrest and believe it is a small price to pay. 

Stop the coal mine on Liverpool plains.

 Its an ill wind that blows nobody any good.  Its the perfect excuse to wear vintage fake fur during this week of extra chilly weather.

Farmers of the Liverpool Plains along with others are trying to prevent development of a new coal mine on the prime agricultural land.
A coal train from another district is seen passing through that area on its way to the port of Newcastle.
Renewable energy has a very low priority with the current government.

 Perfect sunny warm calm weather and music.  What a day for a protest against the extension of coal loading facilities in Port of Newcastle.

See the dense atmospheric pollution in Beijing.  The burning of fossil fuel makes a hugh contribution to pollution. Even Chinese members of The Party are objecting to the pollution. 
(All the same, topsoil has been blown over northern China in the past and along with local weather has contribulted to air pollution.)

Hunter Valley companies exports pollution to China and elsewhere and plagues our localities with unhealthy levels of coal dust.

An early coal loader, perhaps the first established, is beyond suburb of Wickham. Is it Port Waratah? Loads two ships at once.

Another heat wave last week.

What a New Year! Heatwave hangs over the country and climate change is number one suspect.
Newcastle coal exporters are feeding climate change by exporting coal to Asia etc.

At the same time, we are supposed to admire this wonderful boom time in the coal industry.
How can we suspend our knowledge about climate change so as to accept
the goings-on around the port of Newcastle as valid let alone outstanding progress.

From my position of recent, less than perfect health my 'feeble' rant will be sent out over
the internet with all sorts of serious things about the export of coal.
