Steamfest

The railways around the Hunter were alive with steam power these last few days as part of Steamfest. There were excursions and stunts to see and to relive the past. Last thing was a race from Broadmeadow to Maitland. The train pictured is no longer on any regualr service but is 'getting traction' for the race.

Wow. I know guys who love old steam trains. I like them too. I grew up beside a railroad track and used to hear the steam train two times each day.

I like your photography. It is very nice.

I spent the weekend in Maitland for the festival and even went for a ride on this train earlier in the weekend
I have a photo of it taken this morning as my shot for today
I like that you managed to get a shot with out the crowds we had at the Maitland end

I discovered it is not easy to photograph a train, and I don't see this as a very good example. Other opportunites had steam and smoke aplenty but were out of range etc. There is a delay with the button! Not everyday do you do a steam train!b
