Emu. Feeling the effects of summer weather or about to chew on a visitor's finger? It's Big Bird. In the shade a furry shape is relaxing and could be a wallaby. Blackbutt nature reserve, Newcastle, has a crowd of visitors in the school hols.
Hunting would not eventuate in this reserve. Or would it?  Any shooters party represented on council?
As a youngster, living out of town, we had a rifle, a 303 from memory and sometimes the males went ferrel up in the hills and shot at tin cans or rabbits.

New playground at Blackbutt.  The focus was on fun and games. We are so fortunate by and large.  Not many troublespots on our front.  So much to share.
And what about adult equipment to get more of us active?

Picnics and games at Blackbutt Reserve, in the suburb of New Lambton, or take a walk in the bushland surroundings. A shower of rain soon after had everyone heading for shelter. (Blackbutt is a tree)
