Honda

Honda CBX 1978 - 82, six cylinders in line 1047ccs
His torical round 40 years old and  looking new and glossy.
An aficionado described these Hondas. Ampol fuel has reappeared and  somehow Caltex fades away to get
 another identity.

Adventures

..I love the smell of exhaust in the mornings...looks like a bracing ride in  the Southern highlands is taking off.  Local roads, villages and a nineteen thirties pub, autumn leaves, cold weather and mountain climbs could be what counts most.

follow the clues

These bikes include Honda Goldwing original 4 cylinder 1000cc 1976 flat engine water cooled, in the day unlike all previous Hondas, for touring, aimed at USA market who loved them, innovative package in 1976. ...What was cruise control for... - so you could adjust the radio!...

Retro messenger 'boy'.
Imagine travel round sixty years ago. Beijing or Shanghai and S E Asia before the building boom. Big things were traditionally carried on bikes. Coming to terms with another culture in its original form and without fully escorted backup and five stars was an adventure.
Julia is very old fashioned. In those times were fewer drunk, outspoken Aussie backpackers that disregard local dress codes.
No obligatory gap year devotees.  Fewer cashed up dowagers with a check list of destinations to create demand for Westernised this and that. It must have been hell in those days.

An extract barely relevant to anything is from an Australian adventurer who wrote, in 1963, about Spain. He and his wife went swimming at the Basque seaside.
'Laura's one-piece costume was well within the regulations, which are not stricly enforced at Ondaretta beach, anyway.  This being the beach favoured by the Corps Diplomatique, it would be embarrassing to have to bring indecency charges against some daughter of the French or Italian or American ambassador for being over-exposed in a two-piece.  But, diplomatically, she would not wear a bikini - any more that she would say, as a foreign playgirly in a two-piece is once supposed to have said when told she should be wearing a one-piece, 'OK. Which piece shall I take off?'
Take Me To Spain by Colin Simpson, 1963, published by Angus and Robertson, Sydney.

Over and out.

Chippy, the biker and owner film videos as Djrcmach on YouTube.

Here's a Christmas carol new to me possibly one for the motorist.
 Child in the manger, infant of Mary;
outcast and stranger,....
Child who inherits all our transgressions,
all our demerits on him fall.

Baby Boomers know a real passion when they see one. They have priorities right. National motorcycle club meet in Newcastle.

NSW voters have bestowed unconditional approval on a lucky brand name. Did character or policy enter into it? Is it a paradigm shift? Chaos is more interesting.
Could it be that voters in Newcastle associate Labor with difficulties that just go with the zietgeist no matter what, at a time we create a new narrative for the city?

Under the dust is a Velocette. Is it an early cross between a scooter and a motor bike? Notice the mechanical levers - riding was a full-on endeavour. Hand gear change, horizontally opposed twin cylinders and water cooled.
Tomorrow the annual Toy Run for charity takes place and scores of bikers take part. An organizer was on the lookout for participants. Everyone is very welcome but I hear about a scooter rider who is unwilling to join the pack of big boys on Harleys and all the rest.

Another Norton Commando 750. Yesterday.
 Another win for Stoner.
Another mysterious intervention: Motorcycles..Stoner...Australian...Winner...Ducati Team...Italian...Vatican...sainthood...!!!

In the background, a former bank building has reinvented itself as a coffee shop or bed and breakfast as often occurs in small country towns after the financial institutions have moved out. Banks were usually among the few buildings of note in many a small country town.

That is not to say we are all hooligans all the time, but from cafe to cafe, from time to time, hell yes I'm a hooligan, rough and rowdy and aggressively determined to feel alive in a way that is frightening.
From the Powerhouse collection, Tamworth. Quoting an unknown. As if motorcyclists needed any encouragement!

Philip Island is on the wish list, along with nature and the penguins I may take a look at the motor cycle races. Go Stoner. Major event there today.
Believe the above is 'Norton 1969. 750c commando S Type Great Britain. Model released in 1969 claimed to be first superbike. Rubber mounted engine relieved engine vibration. Did not handle as well as the featherbed frame'.... evocative language...

Merewether Riviera!.....si...but incongruente.
The bike is Italian...fully imported?
My internet 'server'or 'host' is offering heapes more high-speed for the same price, that means out with the slowest connections on record (part of the time), next is getting the computer fully working again. The pleasant woman at the telco-call-centre in Mumbai drew my attention to the offer.  And she could not get to the Commonwealth games.
So near and yet so far, a state of the art internet connection runs through my suburb but is on the way to important institutions.

Knights Rugby League team leaving Newcastle Airport for Melbourne for the last match of the season and into the Storm in more ways than one.

Bike of the week at the airport, of all places, from Victory Motorcycles - the new American Motorcycle, Hammar model, $AU31,300.00 on road or $156.36 per week from Brisan motorcycles, not only for BMW.

F4 MV Agusta. Year:2000. F4 Series ORO. From Italy. Design Masimio Tamburini. Has DOHC 4 cylinder Fuel Injected 16 Valve. Number 206 of limited production of 300 units.
Powerhouse collection, Tamworth.

Open road? my telco does not even provide dial-up speed connectivity while in the 'shaped' phrase. Something is fast using up the hi-speed allocation.

His story, 1978 Honda CBX 1000, restored, air cooled, 24 valved OHC, transverse six, Honda delving into racing bikes, yes in 1978.
2) Smaller 1968, CB 350, twin 4 stroke OHC, close model to that hype in zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance.

Early morning and about to leave the caravan park, these bikies had been to WA to a meeting and returned round the top end and were on the home run after covering a massive distance. A Wicked camper was also making tracks.

Not more about milk. Loved by campers and others is long-life milk or UHT milk.
Believe the company, Dairy Farmers, did a lot of work to perfect this handy product. Early it was taken up by caterers, eg, in airlines, and it must be perfect for export to those countries with hot weather which, ideally, is unsuitable for dairy farms.
For that reason, it was even unusual for dairies to start up in northern NSW.
UHT milk is considered unsuitable by some experts.

The Bar Beach car park where European tourists were reorganizing their belongings on their way to far distant Cairns in far north Queensland. The monsoon season or 'big wet' is a feature of tropical Australia and timing is a factor.

The car park above Bar beach. Glorious plans to change the Newcastle beachfront areas are mooted. An inexpert longstand idea is that trees would enhance this 'bald' parking lot, however, trees can be difficult to grow near the sea and could block out the sea-views. Views and tree vandals have been linked.
In the opposite direction was a 1984 Suzuki FR80 - fashions go in cycles!
