That reminds me, very much, of sand paintings by the Navajo Indians in AMerica.

Hello! Nice shot, love sand mandalas, I was once lucky enough to see a huge one being made in Dharmasala, truely inspiring! btw, do try soba, as far as japanese food goes, it's very easy eating, also a very healthy balance of carbs and protein! ☆
