I want to see more...some...examples of streets, avenues, drives, bridges, landmarks named after women. Just another dangerous idea of mine. It's a man's world.

Hi Julia - Here in Pittsburgh we've got a major bridge named after Rachel Carson, the environmentalist and author of Silent Spring. She grew up up the river from the bridge. It is one of three identical yellow bridges known as The Three Sisters. The other two bridges are named for native son Andy Warhol (the bridge connects Downtown with his museum) and Roberto Clemente, a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball star in the 1960s and 70s, Hispanic role model and humanitarian.

a spam-free comment from a non-robotic: one bridge out of three? well, that's a start, and a true celeb, I bet Carson made her mark there and that her followers have taken up the baton. I read wikipedia and appreciate the diversity of the city, and construction of the bridges not just girly topics.
